A Texas mom is going viral after a warrant was issued for her arrest — and the reason why is absolutely ridiculous. The stay-at-home mother reportedly found out that her children’s overdue library books led to her being in financial — and legal — trouble.

NBC News reports that Kaylee Morgan recently discovered that she had a warrant for her arrest and a fine totaling more than $500 when she tried to renew her driver’s license. The bewildered Texas mom learned that the entire issue stemmed from library books that her kids had checked out previously. According to Morgan, she was pregnant at the time and was very ill during her pregnancy, which made it difficult for her to return the books in a timely manner. The books were ultimately returned to the library, after being no more than a month past-due. The overdue charges for her children’s books didn’t total more than two dollars.

Now the family is under a lot of stress. The Texas mom says that she simply can’t afford to pay the fine, which is reportedly around $600.00 — all over around $2.00 worth over overdue book fees. While it could certainly be argued that the mother should have made sure that the library books were returned in a timely manner, it just seems a bit extreme for an arrest warrant to be issued — especially since the books had already been returned.
