Celebrities are glamorous humans with glamorous jobs, but nobody’s perfect — and even the most famous person in the world can end up posing for a mugshot at least once. The following is a list of celebrity arrests and scandals — ranging from the quirky and controversial, to the downright shocking.

Zsa Zsa Gabor slapped the taste out of a cop’s mouth

During the 1980s a police officer pulled over Zsa Zsa Gabor for a minor traffic offense. She drove away from the cop in an attempt to ignore him entirely. He attempted to pull her over a second time, which ended in the famous woman slapping him. Ultimately, Gabor was made to pay a few thousand in fines. She was also sentenced to community service. The slapping arrest was an unfortunate display of elitism and privilege, but it also gave her some publicity for a while. At this point it’s hard to remember why Gabor was famous in the first place, but everyone remembers that she slapped a cop.

At the time, the 30-year-old actresses’s net worth was in the millions, so she could’ve easily afforded the merchandise. According to a clerk that was present during the incident, Winona claimed that she committed the theft in order to “get into character” for a role she was preparing for. Who knows if that was really the truth, though. Fortunately, Winona Ryder hasn’t gotten into any trouble for many, many years — and she’s refreshed her career with her fantastic role in the popular show Stranger Things.

In 2001, Rebecca Gayheart hit a nine-year-old boy with her car. The child shortly passed away from the injuries he endured in the incident. In the end, Gayheart — who was famous for being the spokesmodel for Noxema — was convicted of vehicular manslaughter. She never saw a day of prison however, and was instead given some fines and community service. The former model and actress is remorseful of the incident — which was an unfortunate accident — and says that she suffers from PTSD as a result of what happened.
