According to several news reports, the man identified as the only person of interest in Gretchen Fleming’s case is a former law enforcement officer. Preston Pierce has a shady past, including that of being a law enforcement officer. According to this news report, Pierce was once named Darrell Lott, but he legally changed his name to Preston Pierce. He has worked as a police officer in the past with a law enforcement career spanning over a decade long. What should be asked by the public is exactly why his law enforcement career ended — and what led to the name change?

Darrell Lott — aka Preston Pierce — is the only person of interest in the disappearance of Gretchen Fleming. Knowing that this man has law enforcement training and experience, it wold be entirely possible for him to get away with the kidnapping and murder of a young woman. Of course, detectives aren’t calling him a suspect at this time, and are choosing to stick to calling him a POI.
