A woman is dead after fighting with a Pennsylvania man over drugs, and now he’s been charged in association with her death. The details of this case are shocking — and a bit gruesome — but they also serve as a warning against the behaviors and actions associated with the dangerous lifestyle that both the victim and perpetrator were living.

The Daily Item reports that 43-year-old Rhonda Pearce was killed by 21-year-old Corey Quincy during an altercation that stemmed from the woman demanding that he procure drugs. The death of the 43-year-old woman was discovered when the father of the 21-year-old suspect called authorities to do a welfare check on the man. The Daily Voice reports that when police arrived at his home, they asked him if he’d seen or heard from Pearce — who was supposedly known to be in his company in the days surrounding the welfare check. Quincy wasn’t uncooperative with authorities. Instead, he directed them directly to her body in his home, where she’d been killed approximately three days prior.

Police say that Quincy admitted to killing Rhonda Pearce after the two got into a fight over drugs. He said that the woman demanded that he get her more drugs as she was “coming down,” from the drugs she’d already been using. Those drugs included heroin. At some point during the fight the Pennsylvania man told authorities that Pearce became so aggressive that he reacted by punching her in the face. She responded to the violent reaction by threatening to call police on the 21-year-old man.

After the woman threatened to call police, Corey Quincy admitted to authorities that he stabbed her with a sword — noting that the sword went right through her. He left her body where it dropped and then left his home to do more drugs. He told authorities that he did this so he could think about what he was going to do.

This is a horribly tragic case, but authorities have acknowledged that the 21-year-old suspect was immediately remorseful and had no excuses for what he’d done. He is quoted as saying that he “couldn’t defend his actions” in the killing of Rhonda Pearce.
