The search for missing indigenous woman Wilma Acosta has come to a tragic end with the discovery of human remains. Police in Multnomah County say that they’ve located the missing woman’s body near the area where she was last seen in late November 2023. This brings a tragic end to the search for the missing woman, but will her loved ones get the answers they deserve?

Previously, law enforcement in Portland claimed that the missing indigenous woman took her own life by possibly jumping into the river. Her loved ones passionately disagreed with this assumption, expressing their belief that something else had happened to her. KATU News reports that the body of Wilma Acosta was located in the river, and that there were no signs of foul play. This could potentially confirm the theory held by authorities that Acosta killed herself.

Hopefully the discovery of Wilma Acosta’s body brings some kind of closure to her loved ones, but This is clearly the end that nobody wanted in the search for the missing woman.
