Dorothy “Dottie” Yates-McCathran disappeared approximately two years ago, and the details in her case don’t paint a picture of a woman who voluntarily walked away from her home. In fact, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance cast a shadow of suspicion over her husband. What does this man know about the disappearance of his wife — and what have detectives in Louisiana done to clear this man of suspicion, if he has been cleared?

Two years ago Dorothy Yates-McCathran vanished from the home she shared with her husband Kevan McCathran. At the time of her disappearance it was noted that she’d left behind all of her belongings — including her purse and things that she’d ordinarily take with her if she were to leave her home. Her husband said that he came home to find her missing on that fateful day in January 2020. If this is true, then this contradicts a detail that was later learned by the missing woman’s mother.

A troubled marriage

A friend of Dorothy Yates-McCathran claims that she had actually spoken to the missing woman on the phone the day of her disappearance. This friend claims that she was crying, and saying that she and Kevan McCathran had been fighting — and that she needed to get out of the marriage. During this phone call, according to the mother of the missing woman, the friend claims that someone walked into the home — which triggered Dorothy (who is called “Dottie” by loved ones) to compose herself and dry up her tears. She said “Hi” to someone in the background, but the friend on the other end didn’t hear who it might have been. Later, the husband of the missing woman claims he came home on that day to find her gone without a trace.

The details shared by the mother of Dottie Yates-McCathran, which were reported in this news article, are deeply troubling — but not at all uncommon. When women are murdered or go missing, the vast majority of the time their romantic partners are responsible — especially in situations where there are histories of abuse or marital issues. The family of this missing woman must be more than aware of this, as they have relayed the information about this phone call to authorities. Sadly, nothing has been done about it — and that’s just mindblowing.

Kevan McCathran should, at the very least, be concerned about this mystery person whom his missing wife said ‘Hi’ to the day she vanished. Does he know anybody that had carte blanche to just walk into his home, with whom his wife would have familiarity? Or does he know something about this phone call that his missing wife’s friend claims to have taken place on the day she disappeared? Hopefully authorities are actually looking into this bit of information because it doesn’t seem like they’ve got much else to work on in this two-year-old case.
