The gruesome discovery of a mummified body in a donation bin in South Carolina has an update today. According to the Kershaw County Coroner, the body in the bin has been identified as 47-year-old Lesley Lemoine, who vanished sometime in early 2022.

WLTX News reports that Lesley Lemoine disappeared sometime around March of last year. Her disappearance had even triggered a brief search, and some media reports in hopes of locating her. Unfortunately for Lemoine, she wasn’t reported missing until several months after she disappeared, so it is likely that her body was already in the donation bin in Lugoff as news reports initially alerted the public to her case.

Was Lesley Lemoine murdered? Detectives in South Carolina haven’t said one way or the other. Her cause of death couldn’t be determined by autopsy, but officials confirm that they’re waiting for lab results. In other words, they’re likely awaiting toxicology results. This could mean that the once-missing woman’s cause of death might be drug or substance related. However, even if that is the case, how did her body end up stuffed into an abandoned donation bin?
