The man accused of being the Long Island Serial Killer has been charged with the murder of another victim. This update comes nearly a year after Rex Heuermann was charged in association with the previously-unsolved murders of three women spanning from 1996 and 2011.

Multiple media sources are reporting that the accused Long Island Serial Killer appeared in court this week to be formally charged with the murder of a fourth victim. Rex Heuermann has been charged with the murder of 25-year-old Maureen Brainard-Barnes, whose remains were found at Gilgo Beach in 2010.

The 60-year-old accused serial killer has already been charged in association with the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Lynn Costello and Megan Waterman. Like the fourth victim, these three women’s bodies were also found around Gilgo Beach.

While Heuermann has been charged with the murders of four of the victims found at Gilgo Beach, it should be noted that there were at least 10 different bodies located over the span of years that the serial killer was active. Hopefully investigators are still digging for evidence that could bring closure to the loved ones of the other six victims whose remains were found alongside the four women Heuermann is accused of killing.
