Update: Chelsea Hendrickson has been located safely and is no longer missing.
A Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women advocate is currently missing from the area of Snohomish County, Washington — and police are asking for the public to help in finding her. Chelsea Hendrickson was reportedly last seen on June 7th, and has not been in contact with her loved ones over the course of more than two weeks.
According to KOMO News, 33-year-old Chelsea Hendrickson was last seen at around 9:00 a.m., in the Lynnwood area on June 7th. She may be in the company of her ex-boyfriend, a man named Andrew Klassen, but reports are unclear as to whether or not she might be in danger while in his company.
Hendrickson is reportedly an advocate for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women awareness movement, an area of activism which focuses on awareness, attention and justice for indigenous women who vanish or who are victims of violent crimes. Chelsea Hendrickson’s proximity to MMIW awareness shines an even bigger spotlight on the issue, but will the media drop the ball on this case like they’ve done so many others? Given the fact that Chelsea has now been missing for longer than two weeks and her case is only just now getting attention doesn’t bode well for the search for the missing woman — or MMIW for that matter.
Chelsea Hendrickson stands at approximately 5’5″ and is of average build. She has multiple tattoos, including a medicine wheel on her right arm and an arapaho on her left arm.
