A transgender rights activist has gone missing in Chicago, and it’s verging on nearly a week since anyone has seen or heard from her. Police say 31-year-old Elise Malary hasn’t been seen since March 11, and now her family is growing more concerned with each moment that passes without any answers.

The Chicago Sun Times reports that Elise Malary was last seen around the 700 block of Hinman Ave., which is a mostly residential area that lays against a commercial zone of stores, nail salons and the sort. Police have said that they don’t suspect foul play in the trans activist’s disappearance, but the fact that it’s been many days since she last contacted a loved one, it’s hard to have that kind of optimism. That’s especially when trans people and the people who advocate for them tend to be targets of violent crime.

The family of Elise Malary are asking for the public to come forward with any kind of information that might be useful. If you’ve seen anything, or if you know anything at all, please do not hesitate to contact Evanston Police Detective Bureau at 847-866-5040.
