Missing Nevada woman Naomi Irion still hasn’t been located, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined forces with local authorities to aid in the search for her. Meanwhile, local authorities are expanding the search for her. With this case heading toward week-two of Naomi’s disappearance, what do we have to look forward to in the search for her?

According to Law & Crime, the FBI has joined the search for Naomi Irion and are currently assisting with other investigative bodies in regards to this case. However, any evidence that’s been collected — what little of it that we know of — hasn’t been clarified to the public. That’s likely due to the sensitive nature of this disappearance, and the fact that the suspect who presumably kidnapped Naomi is still at large. This is a very important fact in this case that should frighten members of the Fernley community and other surrounding towns in Northern Nevada.

Why we should be worried about the Naomi Irion disappearance

While crime isn’t entirely unheard of in Northern Nevada towns like Fernley, the fact that a stranger abduction took place in this small town is troubling. First of all, stranger abductions are incredibly rare. The vast majority of kidnappings — of children or adults — are perpetrated by people known to the victims. Authorities in Fernley haven’t spoken on whether or not they believe Naomi knew her abductor, but the family of the missing woman seem convinced that this man was a stranger to her. If this was truly a case of stranger abduction, then there is no way to know that this kidnapping is an isolated incident.

In other words, if someone has preyed upon one young woman in the area, he will likely prey on another. Perpetrators of abductions like the kidnapping of Naomi Irion, don’t just stick to one victim and only offend once in their lives. This isn’t the kind of criminal act that occurs once in a perp’s career. The most rational likelihood is that this person has committed similar crimes leading up to kidnapping Naomi, and if this person gets away with kidnapping and harming Naomi, then he will be emboldened to act again.

Young women and teenage girls in the Fernley area should certainly be wary right now. This was a brazen kidnapping in public, in front of security cameras in the parking lot of a store. This person had no qualms about abducting 18-year-old Naomi in an environment where he risked getting caught. Yet he was deliberate enough in his actions that he wore a hoodie and covered his face. This was a planned abduction by someone who has low impulse control, but is likely very familiar with the security cameras at the Fernley Walmart where he kidnapped Irion.
