The child known only as Opelika Jane Doe has finally been identified after over a decade after her remains were found in an Alabama trailer park. She’s been positively identified as Amore Joveah Wiggins, and the identification of her body also comes with the arrest of two people who failed her greatly.

Numerous media reports have shared the news that Opelika Jane Doe is no longer an unidentified murder victim. However, this news is bittersweet. Amore Joveah Wiggins was murdered, and her body was dumped. Her own father and his wife, the little girl’s stepmother, allegedly concealed her death and then went about their lives like she never existed.

Over the course of the investigation behind the identity of the Opelika Jane Doe, it was discovered that the child’s biological mother — Sherry Wiggins — had lost custody of Amore to her father Lamar Vickerstaff. She had been paying child support to him since 2009. In other words, she didn’t even know her child was “missing,” and certainly had no clue that she’d been murdered and dumped in Alabama in 2012.

Vickerstaff and his wife were arrested this week in association with the murder of Amore Wiggins. Vickerstaff was charged with murder, and his wife charged with failure to report a child missing to police. They’re currently awaiting extradition from Florida back to the state of Alabama, where they will hopefully face justice for this horrifying case.
