A missing Nevada woman was presumably kidnapped, and now her case is making national headlines as it verges into a week since she was last seen. With the increased public attention on Naomi Irion’s case, is coming a host of careless reports online — such as one that recently referred to Naomi as a “fictional character.” This woman is a human being. She legitimately exists — and she is missing.

A recent report published by Ceng News referred to missing Nevada woman Naomi Irion as a “fictional character,” with no other explanation whatsoever. While this could be due to poor translation from a different language to English, the headline is a shocking thing to see — and it is harmful. Earlier this week a now-deleted Facebook post claimed that the missing Nevada woman’s body had been found. This was also obviously untrue.

Naomi Irion has been missing now for several days after she was allegedly kidnapped from a Walmart parking lot in Fernley, Nevada. The 18-year-old girl’s abandoned vehicle was located by police, who gathered evidence from it. Police claim that there was possible evidence of a crime inside of the car. As for the suspect in this case — he remains unknown and unidentified. Recent comments by police have indicated that they are not sure at all whether he was a homeless man or not — but he did appear to come from a direction near a homeless encampment in the area. All of this information is according to sparse security footage from Walmart in Fernley.

Naomi’s loved ones believe the perpetrator forced himself into the driver’s side of Naomi’s car — possibly making her scoot over to the passenger side, but it hasn’t been confirmed as to whether or not security footage can support this. Until this scenario can be supported by evidence or security footage, the question still remains as to whether or not Naomi Irion knew her presumed abductor.
