Kortney Stouffer remains a missing person after nearly a decade — and her family is still trying to find answers behind what happened to her. The Palmyra, Pennsylvania woman was only 21-years-old at the time of her disappearance, which authorities believe resulted in foul play. Nonetheless, if this missing woman were alive today, she’d be in her early 30s. Instead, she’s the subject of a decade-long cold case that doesn’t have an end in sight. With as many enemies as she made the night of her disappearance, it’s hard to imagine that anyone will ever come forward with the truth behind what happened to her.
The night Kortne Stouffer disappeared was one of conflict — especially between her and multiple people. She had gone out to an establishment called the Hardware Bar earlier in the night that she disappeared, but was made to leave after getting into an altercation with another woman who was there. From there, she went back to the apartment that she shared with her boyfriend, who was on house-arrest at the time. Due to the loud party that took place that night, police were called and Kortne’s boyfriend was taken into custody on a probation violation. This angered the now-missing woman, who believed her downstairs neighbors called the police. So she and a male friend confronted the neighbors, getting so heated that police were called to the apartments a second time that night. Eventually, everyone calmed down and went back to their own apartments — and no arrests were made. Later that night police were called a third time, this time by the downstairs neighbor who claimed that Kortne was stomping around and being loud. It was approximately 4 in the morning. When police knocked on the apartment door, nobody answered.
The following morning, Kornte Stouffer was missing — and a male friend who slept over the previous night claimed that he didn’t see her leave. He also claimed to not hear any noise in the middle of the night, nor did he hear police officers banging on the apartment door. This detail has always been deeply suspicious, but apparently this person isn’t a suspect.
Kortne Stouffer was likely murdered, but who did it? Was more than one person involved?
