On the morning of August 14, 1998, 24-year-old Christy Lyn Garrard got into a white pickup truck with a male friend in Boaz, Alabama. That was the last time anyone has seen or heard from the missing Alabama woman, and it’s been long-suspected that she was the victim of homicide. With so many years passed in this heartbreaking cold case, is there any hope for closure?

The name of this so called “male friend” of the missing Alabama woman has never been released in media coverage, so it’s hard to even speculate one way or the other. Authorities know who this man is though, and they know that he told his family that he dropped her off at home. This is untrue, since she never turned up and hasn’t been seen since. It’s safe to say that a person of interest has been right under everyone’s noses from the get-go, but nothing has been done.

The overwhelming consensus on this case is that Christy Garrard was murdered, but her body has never been located. This is a common theme among missing people in the state of Alabama, partially due to the heavily wooded terrain and dense woodlands. It can also be partly due to lack of resources and properly trained investigators in the mostly rural area, who might not be fully prepared to handle cases of this caliber. Unfortunately, it’s been over a decade since anyone has seen or heard from this missing woman, and any evidence that once existed might have been overlooked and lost to time.

The loved ones of this missing woman continue to be her loudest and most determined advocates. They deserve closure and deserve to know what happened to her.
