There are currently 155 missing people in Las Vegas, Nevada — according to NAMUS — but that number could actually be higher. Who are these missing people, and why haven’t many of them gotten the media and public attention that every missing persons case deserves?
Carroll Eugene Streich
Thirty-seven-year-old Carroll Eugene Streich vanished from Nellis Airforce Base on June 1, 1969 — though, according to NAMUS, his last known contact was in 1972. Loved ones of the missing man believe that he might have intentionally gone AWOL, as this was during the war in Vietnam. The missing Wisconsin man was based at the Las Vegas Airforce base, but there are confusing contradictions in the details of his story which make it hard to determine if he ever returned from war or not. What happened to this missing man? If he’d gone AWOL voluntarily, wouldn’t he have at least reached out to loved ones over the course of the past several decades?
Marie B. Morgan
Marie Morgan vanished from the Las Vegas area in May 1980, leaving behind very little information that could ever potentially lead to her whereabouts. While little information is available about her disappearance on the NAMUS dashboard, there are quite a few things written about her on social media and some news articles. According to an LA Times article from 2001, Marie B. Morgan was actually the second woman to go missing that had direct association with a business-owner in Las Vegas. This suspicious detail should’ve sparked concern among the public immediately, but perhaps there are other circumstances at work preventing this cold case disappearance from getting much-needed attention.
Robert Louis Arcaris
Believed to be a victim of homicide, Robert Louis Arcaris was last seen around Oct. 12, 1987. He was reportedly seen boating at Lake Mead, but little else is known about this last sighting. In fact, very little information is even publicly available about this missing person. What’s interesting, however, is that he was last seen at Lake Mead, which has become recently notorious due to the discovery of multiple bodies in barrels and other remains in the same area.
Kay Vernice Deller
Very little is known about this missing person’s disappearance, other than she was residing in Las Vegas at the time that she was last in contact with loved ones. Kay Vernice Deller has been missing since February 5, 1998.
Everlyse Cabrera
Two-year-old Everlyse Cabrera disappeared on June 10, 2006. The missing child was last seen in North Las Vegas at the home of her foster parents — Vhee and Manuel Carrascal. The couple claimed that Everlyse might have wandered from the home in the middle of the night while the family slept. However, they soon became uncooperative with law enforcement during the search for the child. Everlyse has never been found, and the primary focus of the investigation behind her disappearance appears to be on her foster parents. However, with all the time that has passed in her case, it’s hard to tell if there will ever be justice if her foster parents are behind her disappearance.
