Will we ever find out what happened to Jodi Huisentruit? The KIMT News anchor vanished in 1995, leaving behind so little evidence that her case has long-been cold, but the story of her disappearance remains an intriguing mystery that begs to be solved. Now a private investigator in Iowa is putting up a substantial chunk of money in an effort to find more answers behind what might have happened to her. With the circumstances being what they are in this decades-old cold case, what are the chances that this fresh attempt at solving the case will be successful?
Jodi Huisentruit vanished under suspicious circumstances during the early morning hours of June 27, 1995. She had been scheduled to arrive at work at around 4:00 in the morning that day, and had spoken to a coworker shortly prior to her scheduled arrival. According to this coworker, Jodi said that she’d be leaving her home and would be at work shortly. She, of course, never arrived. When Jodi Huisentruit failed to contact her coworkers by 7:00 that morning, they became increasingly concerned that something had happened to her. The police were called, and a welfare check was performed at her residence in the town of Mason City, Iowa.
It became immediately obvious that Jodi was missing, and not by her own free will. Her belongings were strewn about the parking lot of the apartment complex, including the keys to her car and some of her clothing and jewelry. Her actual apartment showed no signs of a struggle, but the parking lot told a sickening story that left police with no option but to raise the alarm that a kidnapping had taken place. This was further cemented by witness reports of hearing a scream in the parking lot in the early hours of the day she disappeared.
Somebody abducted Jodi Huisentruit, but authorities have never been able to figure out who did it — or where she was taken. She’s never been located, and this case has been cold for a very, very long time. Furthermore, in 2001, Jodi Huisentruit was declared legally dead. To date, her case remains unsolved, but at least one person has hope in tracking down clues behind what happened to her.
Iowa private investigator Steve Ridge has been working on the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit for around three years, and now he’s offering a reward in the amount of $25k for any information that might lead to solving this case. The terms of the reward are unique, in that the investigator says an arrest or conviction isn’t required to collect it. The man is merely seeking the remains of Jodi Huisentruit, so that she can be laid to rest and her family get the closure that they’ve deserved for nearly 30 years.
