The search for Gretchen Fleming continues after authorities in West Virginia have confirmed that a set of remains found yesterday do not match the missing woman. The remains were located a couple of hours away from where the missing woman was last seen, and was alerted to investigators by another police department. Authorities aren’t sharing the identity of the remains at this time, but allege they have nothing to do with the disappearance of Fleming.
WTRF News reports that Ohio County Sheriff Tom Howard spoke directly to media reporters to confirm that the body of Gretchen Fleming has not been found. Gretchen Fleming is still missing, and the search for her continues while detectives try to get to the bottom of what might have happened to her. They’ve searched the home of a person of interest more than once over the course of this case, but have yet to come up with any definitive answers.
The remains that were discovered on Thursday were apparently older remains, meaning they had been in the area for longer than Gretchen Fleming has been missing. This was the first indicator that the tip wasn’t a useful lead in the search for her. Sheriff Howard says dental records have hopefully helped in identifying these remains, however. As for Gretchen, she’s still out there somewhere.
