A Florida man is in the news this week after he reportedly committed an attempted robbery in Miami — but it isn’t necessarily the robbery itself that’s getting attention. In true Florida Man fashion, the suspect in this viral news story used a truly unique — and rather comical — weapon in the commencement of the crime.
According to Spot on Crime, police in Miami arrested 31-year-old Patrick Abbott last week after he attempted to rob a Publix grocery store on Biscayne Boulevard. Authorities received a call from a clerk at the store who believed that the man had a firearm. When they arrived on scene, it was discovered that the weapon wasn’t a gun at all. In fact, the Florida man was wielding a black stapler. They arrested Abbot shortly following the incident, and charged him with a count of armed robbery.
This isn’t the first time the Florida man has been arrested. In fact, reports reveal that Patrick Abbot was out on bail on a child abuse related incident the day he attempted the robbery at Publix.
