The details of this developing story are still coming to the public in bits and pieces, but according to arresting documents, the 32-year-old has been charged in association with the murder -- which took place on Monday. Fifty-seven-year-old Kim Beacham-Hanson was found unresponsive at the scene. She had been bludgeoned to death, and her daughter was immediately taken in to police custody. Adamaris Garcia Has Some Explaining To Do

Adamaris Garcia went missing in the late night hours of New Year’s Eve, and her disappearance immediately became a viral news story for several days. After missing for nearly an entire week, it’s fortunate to report that the Queens, New York woman has been located safely.

According to NBC News New York, Adamaris Garcia, known as “Yuri” to her loved ones, voluntarily returned home on Thursday. She appears to be in good health and not under any kind of distress, but no explanation for her disappearance has been offered.

Adamaris’s disappearance made statewide and national headlines for the course of five days while she remained missing and out of contact with her friends and loved ones. Her family members were so distressed by the mysterious disappearance that they gave media interviews pleading for the return of their missing daughter. Was Adamaris Garcia missing voluntarily over the course of the past week? If so, did she not see any of the news reports covering her disappearance and showcasing her fearful parents’ pleas to find her?

It’s fortunate that this young woman has returned home safe and unharmed, when so many other missing women aren’t nearly as lucky. More than a quarter of a million women go missing in the United States every year — and there have been times in the not-so-distant history where that number was more than half a million. While many missing persons cases resolve themselves rather quickly, there are hundreds of thousands of women who remain missing and slip through the cracks of time as cold case disappearances. What’s worse: Many of these missing women are murder victims. Adamaris Garcia is so incredibly lucky, but if she was missing voluntarily this entire time while knowing just how frantic the search for her was, then shame on her.
