A Pennsylvania woman is reportedly “being referred for mental help,” after she followed and attempted to lure a 10-year-old boy, for reasons that are still not known. This story is a sum of all parents’ fears, but it fortunately ended on a positive note.
According to Fox 5 Vegas, 10-year-old Sammy Green was walking home from school on Friday, when he noticed that he was being followed by a strange woman. The woman approached the child and reportedly asked him to go with her to a WaWa store, to which he declined. The Pennsylvania child claims that the woman kept insisting that he go with her, and told him that she knew his family. The unnamed woman also told 10-year-old Sammy Green that he could “have anything he wanted” at the store if he went with her.
Fortunately, Sammy is a smart child and knew that something was wrong with the situation. He Walked into a nearby store and approached a cashier before whispering for her to pretend to be his mother because of the strange woman who would not leave him alone. Surveillance footage of the incident shows the cashier springing to action after realizing that the woman standing in the doorway of the store was attempting to kidnap the child. She pulled the door shut and locked it — which caused the unidentified Pennsylvania woman to flee.
It’s fortunate that video footage exists of the situation, and it’s also fortunate that authorities were able to track down the woman and extend some kind of remedy for her mental health. However, this woman still attempted to abduct a 10-year-old child in broad daylight. Regardless of her mental health, she is clearly a danger to the public and to their children. Hopefully something a little better than “referring her for mental help” can be done.
