According to WMAZ News, Calaylah Spivey was involved in a domestic dispute with her parents, who are not being named in media reports, on Thursday. At some point during the dispute, the Georgia woman retrieved a firearm and shot it at her parents several times before leaving the residence and fleeing in her car. Police say she drove down Hwy 41 with the gun in her possession, until she was apprehended near the Monroe County Achievement Center.
Due to the circumstances of the arrest, the Achievement Center was put under a code red lockdown, which undoubtedly frightened students and faculty who were present at the time. Fortunately, Calaylah Spivey was disarmed and arrested. The Georgia woman has been charged with battery, aggravated assault and two counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. In other words, Spivey is facing possible felony convictions, which could land her in prison. Hopefully the parents of this woman are safe and unharmed after the violent incident.
