A 62-year-old unsolved ‘Jane Doe’ case has finally been solved in Arizona, but a further mystery surrounds how the little girl wound up in the Grand Canyon state. Authorities have confirmed that the unidentified murdered child long-known as Little Miss Nobody has finally been identified — but who kidnapped and killed this child, and are they residents of Arizona, or were they just passing through at the time this horrifying crime took place?
Police in Yavapai County say the real identity of Little Miss Nobody is Sharon Lee Gallegos — a four-year-old girl who was kidnapped from behind her home in New Mexico over six decades ago. The kidnapping of Sharon Lee Gallegos has been listed on Namus.Gov as well as The Charley Project for numerous years as this sad case remained unsolved. In fact, both the disappearances of the New Mexico child and the discovery of Little Miss Nobody in Arizona have remained some of the oldest unsolved cases in both states. It’s rather shocking that so many years have passed without investigators from either state comparing case details. Fortunately, DNA has brought an end to the search for Little Miss Nobody’s identity, but what about the kidnapping?
Sharon Lee Gallegos was four-years-old when she was abducted from outside her home on Sept. 21, 1960. According to the details of this abduction, a man and a woman were seen grabbing the child and shoving her into a vehicle before driving away. The identities of these kidnappers have never been known, meaning they’ve essentially gotten away with the kidnapping and murder of a child. If either of these suspects are alive today, they’d be well into their senior years.
