Naomi Irion still hasn’t been located as her disappearance enters the second week, but there are at least some clarifications on the details surrounding her abduction. Her mother has provided more information about the night the missing Nevada woman was presumably kidnapped from a Fernley Walmart parking lot.
The Heavy reports that the mother of Naomi Irion believes her daughter “froze up” when an unidentified man approached her car and pushed himself into the driver’s seat. She said that her daughter isn’t a fighter and is known to freeze-up in tense situations. She believes that she was blindsided when the alleged kidnapper approached her car, and she simply complied when she was made to scoot into the passenger side of the vehicle.
The mother of the missing Nevada woman also says that Naomi had been talking to friends on Snapchat leading up to the incident that’s been caught on security camera. She gave no indication that she was going to meet anyone that night, according to her friends. She hasn’t been in contact with her friends since before her disappearance, and hasn’t been on Snapchat. Leading up to the abduction, Naomi moved to Fernley from South Africa to live with her brother and to have a sort of “gap year” between high school and college. Her mom says that she moved to Fernley, Nevada to “figure out her life,” but it has all gone horribly wrong.
Naomi Irion disappeared more than a week ago, and not much evidence has been found that could point detectives in any direction. What they do have is security footage from Walmart and Naomi’s abandoned car — which was located behind the Sherwin Williams store just about a mile from where she was last seen. Police say the car contained evidence that indicated the missing Nevada woman was abducted. Furthermore, it’s been implied that the evidence may be connected to a blue pickup truck. Authorities are trying to locate this truck to identify the driver.
Naomi Irion search finds nothing new
Over the weekend, more than 400 people showed up in Fernley to help search for the missing woman. Unfortunately, no evidence was located and no signs of Naomi were found. Nonetheless, the public awareness on this case is increasing as the search for her continues. The ground search — as reported here on The Justice Voice — attracted community members, search and rescue groups and members of local law enforcement. The brother of the missing woman spoke to the crowd, as did other loved ones.
At this time there are no other searches planned, but that is sure to change as her loved ones gather themselves and figure out what their next moves will be in hunt for answers. In the meantime, there is a Facebook group dedicated to the search for Naomi Irion where many of her loved ones — including her brother — are right on top of every bit of information that surfaces.
